‍ This research briefing introduces an evidence-based framework for understanding the effects of family ownership on businesses, business-owning families, and the wider economy and society.

An analysis of this sample identified 56 distinct effects of family ownership, which have been classified and clustered into six higher-level domains: - internal business effects; economic effects; social and community impact; family dynamics and individual effects; stakeholder and institutional effects and integrated effects.
